Do I always need to perform a full echocardiogram?

When a patient is referred to us for an echocardiogram, the indication can often be vague. In fact, "murmur" (either with or without a grading) is frequently all the information we get. When seeing these patients for the first time it is important to perform as comprehensive an echocardiogram is possible, but when following up on patients where one specific question needs to be regularly answered (e.g. has the LV diameter increased? Has systolic function reduced?), it is acceptable to perform a focused study.

This makes the echocardiogram itself, as well as the reporting process, far less time-consuming - and also allows you to really pay close attention to the one question that really needs answering.

Quantum is the only reporting tool that complements this decision-making, allowing you to switch between protocols with the click of a button (focussed, standard and advanced), so that you can concentrate on the information you really need for your report.
